Diagnosis, prevention, and management of varicose veins and other vein problems

This site is dedicated to providing a complete guide to vein problems and varicose veins. Venous problems of some sort affect approximately 20-25% of the global population. There are many different presentations of venous disease, ranging from the common such as chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), to rare conditions such as pelvic congestion syndrome. Some vein conditions can be potentially life-threatening, such as deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism. Other vein conditions can lead to ulceration and non-healing sores of the ankles and feet. Unfortunately, venous problems and their many different types of presentation are not very well understood. Most medical professionals are not well versed in the signs and symptoms of vein problems.

Do you legs ache and swell? Do you have skin color changes at your ankles, or thickening of the skin with brownish discoloration? These are some of the signs and symptoms of venous insufficiency. Ever have an episode when the inside of your leg became hard, red, hot and painful, and it lasted several weeks to months? Phlebitis. Large, ropy veins that are painful, with aching in the calf muscles and swelling at the ankles? Superficial venous reflux. Ladies, do you have a deep seated, pelvic pain especially around your mentrual cycle? Pelvic congestion syndrome?

This site is dedicated to all things concerned with varicose veins and things venous. Please feel free to peruse through the site and send me your comments or helpful suggestions.
